Design for Additive Manufacturing
August 30 @ 09:30 - September 1 @ 17:00
In the beginning of this autumn, Lund University Commissioned Education is arranging for an intensive 3-day course course regarding additive manufacturing that is lectured by professor Olaf Diegel. The growth of additive manufacturing (AM, 3D printing) has been exponential in the last few years. Almost all industries have been using AM for many years to manufacture prototypes of both plastic and metal. The challenge today is to use the technology for real production parts. With AM one can produce complex shapes which are not possible to manufacture in the traditional way. Also, no production tools are required to go into production or, if tooling is required, that can be made through AM, and material wastage is minimal. The challenge, now, is to exploit the opportunities additive manufacturing offers in a smart way.
