SUMMARY:OpenTech Talks: The Rise of Microelectronics in Skåne
DESCRIPTION:From Historical Roots to Future Competitiveness\nMicroelectronics is one of the most strategic technologies shaping Europe’s future. From semiconductors and advanced radio hardware to sensors and embedded systems\, the ability to develop and scale these technologies is increasingly linked to competitiveness\, innovation\, and technological sovereignty. \nSkåne’s microelectronics ecosystem did not emerge overnight. It grew from bold industrial decisions\, close collaboration with academia\, and a strong culture of engineering that continues to drive innovation in the region today. \nAt this OpenTech Talks\, we’re bringing together perspectives from industry\, startups\, and regional development actors to explore the evolution of Skåne’s microelectronics ecosystem – and how it can continue contributing to Europe’s technological future. \nSpeakers include representatives from: \n\nEricsson – on four decades of radio hardware research in Lund and the role of microelectronics in future telecom systems.\nBeammWave / AlixLabs – on building semiconductor startups and scaling deep-tech innovation in Skåne.\nRegion Skåne – on strengthening Europe’s microelectronics ecosystem through regional collaboration\, and how regions can support the development of strategic technologies.\n\nThe event is part of a broader initiative connecting European regions working with microelectronics and semiconductors. As geopolitical developments reshape global supply chains\, stronger collaboration between European innovation ecosystems is becoming increasingly important. \nDelegations from other European regions visiting Skåne – including representatives from the Silicon Alps semiconductor cluster – will join the discussions to explore opportunities for knowledge exchange\, partnerships\, and future collaboration. \nAfter the seminar\, participants are invited to continue the conversation during a networking session\, bringing together companies\, researchers\, policymakers\, and international guests working across the microelectronics value chain. \nSeats are limited and we recommend registering early. This event is free and open to all\, made possible thanks to contributions from Region Skåne. \nProgram & speakers\n15.00 – Doors open; Networking Coffee\, fruit smoothies\, and light afternoon snacks will be served. \n15.30 – Seminar: Warm welcome and introduction – Ola Svedin\, CEO\, OpenTech \n\nThe Origins: Corporate Anchors That Changed a Region – Fredrik Tillman\, Senior Research Manager\, Ericsson\nFrom Spin-offs to Startups: The Ecosystem Takes Shape – Stefan Svedberg\, CEO\, BeammWave & Co-Founder and Chairman\, AlixLabs\nRegional Development: Collaboration and Competitiveness in Europe’s Semiconductor Ecosystem – Dr. Krisztina Anderberg Halasz\, Development Manager\, Region Skåne\nQ&A with speakers\n\n16.30 – Networking and matchmaking; Finger food and non-alcoholic beverages will be served. \n18.00 – Doors close. \nWho should attend?\nThis event brings together people across the microelectronics ecosystem who want to better understand the development of this strategic technology area in Skåne and Europe. \nIt is particularly relevant for: \n\nCompanies working within deep-tech\, microelectronics\, semiconductors\, sensors\, embedded systems\, or hardware development (including start-ups and scale-ups)\nResearchers and students in engineering\, electronics\, nanotechnology\, and related fields\nInnovation actors\, cluster organizations\, and incubators supporting deep-tech companies\nRegional development actors\, public sector representatives\, and policymakers working with industrial competitiveness and strategic technologies\n\nThe event also welcomes international guests and delegations from European regions interested in collaboration within the microelectronics value chain. \nQuestions? Please contact Jessica Pålsson at OpenTech: jessica.palsson@opentech.se \nReserve a spot >>
