Spec-Imaging brings in Mellby Gård and its subsidiary Feralco as new shareholders via the jointly owned fund FMG Circular Invest in a new emission. Former co-owner Stena New Ventures also participates. Spec-Imaging will now carry out pilot runs, hire staff and launch its first analysis instrument next year.

The deep tech company Spec-Imaging has a patented analysis method that is able to measure concentrations of various substances in cloudy liquids, which is not possible with conventional technology. The basic technique of spectrophotometry is a standard method of analysis, where a beam of light is sent through the liquid and absorbed. Normally, the measurement is disturbed if the liquid contains particles.

– You do not need to pre-treat the liquid samples before measurement, which has the advantage that our technology can be used directly in process streams in many different industries. Right now, water purification is most interesting to us, and we have just started a pilot run with a company in Gothenburg.

William Chaze, co-founder and CEO of Spec-Imaging.

– It is great fun to see that good companies are still attracting investors in these financially strained times. We are extra happy that it is one of Ideon’s advanced deep-tech companies with a background in Lund University that is now receiving capital.

Anders G Nilsson, CEO of Ideon Innovation.

Spec-Imaging is founded by researchers from the Department of Combustion physics at LTH in Lund and a startup of Ideon’s incubator.
