Xenergic’s office is an international hub where more than eight nationalities of low-power IC-design experts working passionately to change the future of memories on SoCs by providing the best low-power SRAM solutions. Xenergic is a Design IP Provider which means that they sell and deliver their memory as blueprints in digital form to customers. They deliver their memories for all type of circuits, such as low power Bluetooth and sensors to high performance processors for data centers . A lot of Xenergic’s customers are confidential but a big and well-known customer is Bosch and their MEME Sensors, they also work closely with leading semiconductor manufacturers, and GlobalFoundries is one of them with Xenergic as a partner.
The idea started at a Christmas party at another company where the entrepreneurship came into contact with the research. Lund University-holding company was approached and jointly they started the new company. After starting at the research department at the University, Xenergic then went through the 2-year incubator program at Ideon Innovation. Today, they remain in the Alfa house at Ideon Science Park three stairs up in a nice office space where all departments are close at hand.
Xenergic has a huge breadth of employees at the company, they are an incredible multi-national company. They have employees from China, India, Iran, France, Poland, USA and the Nordic countries. And why is that so? Lund University (LTH) has an outstanding master’s program in electrical engineering that deals with circuit design and is one of the 50 best programs in the world. Many of those who work at Xenergic have completed this program and come from outside Europe. Xenergic often comes into contact with them when they do their degree projects, through this many have become employed at the company after completing the degree project. This is one of the ways for Xenergic to find talent, but they also depend on their research network. In addition, LinkedIn is a good tool, but there is a huge shortage of talent and it is starting to get very difficult to find the right skills. This is partly due to the fact that few people in Sweden study these types of programs that are required, this means that a majority are international who possess the right skills. But due to this shortage in the whole world, there are companies that are in and chase these students early on in the institutions and then hire and move them to, for example, the United States.

Xenergic’s customers are usually not in Sweden but they are global and hence the pandemic it has been challenging for Xenergic, keeping its customers has worked well but to find new leads they have always attended fairs that are usually abroad. These fairs have been held digitally instead but have not worked as well as meetings in real life and the unexpected interaction that generates.
Xenergic appreciates being in an environment where there are other startups and Scaleups in the same situation. Sitting at Ideon gives the feeling that “it’s for real”. It is important to get help from other people, as an entrepreneur you should learn a lot of new things that you do not have knowledge of before and then it helps to be close to several other companies that you can get help from at Ideon Science Park and LTH says Anders Berglund.
Last year in June Xenergic got a big investment. The investment is used to be able to deliver and scale up, as well as the tools that are needed. It is used because Xenergic want’s to be able to deliver to more customers, they have also been able to invest in more staff.
