Towards New Digital Collaboration Methods Within the Space Sector

September 25, 2024

We are happy to announce that we are a part of an exciting initiative, Swedish Space Innovation Cooperation (SSIC), which aims to develop new digital collaboration methods and services within the space sector.

The project is expected to strengthen Sweden’s position as a leading innovation country in the European space sector.

The initiative is a Swedish national collaboration project within the space sector; Swedish Space Innovation Cooperation (SSIC). The partners involved in the project include Arctic Business, Ideon Science Park, Innovatum, and UIC – the four Swedish nodes in ESA BIC Sweden’s national space startup incubator.

The purpose is to contribute to better and simpler digital exchanges for increased and stronger collaboration within the space sector.

It also includes creating structured cooperation with and between actors such as the Swedish and European Space Agencies and European Space Agency – ESA, Swedish and European industry partners, and national and international venture capital across the border.

The project has a total budget of SEK 35.5 million, with funding from the Rymdstyrelsen Swedish Space Agency (SNSA), Tillvaxtverket , Utveckla Norrbotten – en del av Region Norrbotten , and the project partners.

“New Space represents a new era of possibilities and innovations in the space industry. Through the Swedish Space Innovation Cooperation (SSIC), we at Ideon, together with our partners Arctic Business, Innovatum, and UIC, can strengthen Sweden’s position as a leading innovation country in the space sector in Europe.

Thanks to this funding we will be able to develop new digital collaboration methods and services. This will drive change and create a more inclusive and diverse space tech industry. We are proud to be a part of this initiative that we believe will contribute to shaping the future of the space industry,” says Anders G. Nilsson, CEO.

Jens Lundström, CEO of Arctic Business:

“This project represents a great opportunity for Arctic Business to continue to strengthen Sweden’s position in space and innovation from Luleå. We are incredibly excited to work on this with our colleagues at UIC, Ideon, and Innovatum.”

Anna Rathsman, Director General of the Swedish Space Agency – Rymdstyrelsen, emphasizes the importance of supporting innovation-related investments so that the Swedish space sector can continue to develop new companies for the growing space industry.
