Interested in a new network for labs, testing, and innovation?

June 12, 2026

Skåne has access to some of Europe’s most advanced research facilities and testing environments. At the same time, we know that taking the step to use them can still be challenging for many startups and small businesses.

That is why Ideon Science Park, Science Village, BEAMS, and SmiLe are exploring interest in a new network focused on laboratories, testbeds, and research infrastructure—bringing together companies, universities, research facilities, and other stakeholders to create new collaborations.

The aim of the network is to:

  • Make advanced infrastructure more accessible to industry
  • Strengthen the innovation capacity of startups and scaleups
  • Create new connections between research, industry, and entrepreneurs
  • Facilitate the development and validation of future solutions in areas such as advanced materials, life science, energy, and deep tech

We are now looking to gauge interest in such a network and would like to connect with organizations and individuals who are interested in participating, contributing, or exploring the opportunities together with us.

About BEAMS
BEAMS for Industry is a national platform that makes world-leading research infrastructures such as MAX IV, ESS, and DESY accessible to industry. We connect companies with experts in X-ray and neutron science who can support their research in line with their business objectives—from the initial contact and experiment design through to execution and data analysis.

We also showcase real-world examples of how companies have already used these facilities, helping others discover what is possible for their own operations.

The project is led by Science Village Scandinavia in collaboration with the MAX IV Industry Office and in partnership with ESS and DESY. It is funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), the Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth (Tillväxtverket), and Region Skåne.
