The Swedish Security and Defence Industry Association (SOFF) has signed a cooperation agreement with Amyna, a defence innovation platform within Ideon Science Park. The aim is to enable more innovative companies with dual-use technologies – applicable in both civilian and military contexts – to scale and reach the market faster.
In the current security landscape facing Sweden, the need to rapidly deploy innovative technologies is increasing. At the same time, the defence and security sector is characterised by extensive regulatory frameworks and long decision-making processes. This makes it difficult for smaller, agile companies to reach commercialisation and real-world impact.
Through this collaboration, established companies and innovative startups will engage earlier in the development process, ensuring that solutions are designed correctly from the outset rather than being adjusted later.
“The ecosystem becomes stronger when we combine everything from skilled integrators to startup companies. When dialogue with startups begins earlier, the chances of developing solutions that work in real-world settings increase. The collaboration with Amyna is an important step in that direction,” says Robert Limmergård, Secretary General of SOFF.
“There is no shortage of innovative technology from startups in this sector. The challenge is that entrepreneurs often encounter complex procurement requirements and slow decision-making processes only after significant development has already taken place and key choices have been made. That’s why we are moving the dialogue earlier – while the technology is still taking shape,” says Daniel Persson, Head of Amyna at Ideon Science Park.
The collaboration aims to:
- Strengthen innovative companies developing dual-use solutions.
- Create concrete business opportunities within the ecosystem.
- Improve companies’ ability to navigate sector requirements and processes.
