Match it Program

Providing ICT talent to companies at Ideon Science Park and beyond!

MatchIT has been designed to provide companies in Skåne and Blekinge with ICT educated students. The expected level of competence is at or above yrkeshögskola. After the first successful MatchIT round which is now complete, a second round with a 34 week full time education will be conducted at Lunds University followed by a 10 week internship at companies around Skåne and Blekinge. The result of successful internships is to be employed full time.

Students with an interest in IT, coming from different backgrounds, experiences and levels of education will be a part of the program. The course at Lunds University will complement this background with hand-picked courses taken from the civil engineering program at Lunds University.

The focus in the second batch is on Java and SQL. The participants will also learn to work with Agile methods like Scrum and XP. Students will then go through a more advanced course in Java where they will learn to create their own data structure and understand basic mobile development under Android. They will also learn Database Technology in MySQL with a traditional approach. All parts of the program consist of lectures, exercises, labs and real-world case-work linked to companies. The participants should be ready for employment after the internship.

Who is it for?

MatchIT is an EU funded program designed to provide supplemental ICT skills to newcomers to Sweden who already have some kind of ICT education, skills or experience. Round one was a big success and now we have started with a second round with 32 candidates. You can get more information from your local Arbetsförmedlingen office.

More on the program at Region Skåne

Who’s involved?

There are five organizations involved at this time including the European Social Fund (ESF). Region Skåne is the project owner, the Swedish Employment Agency (Arbetsförmedlingen) has been involved with the recruitment of the students and is also partnering in signing up interested companies. Lund University will be the education provider and Ideon Science Park will provide a network of companies who are interested in accepting an intern as well as participate in other activities.

Internship

The goal of MatchIT program, batch two, is to find internships for all the candidates who pass their tests and complete the stages of the program. The internship will last 10 weeks and we can provide a suggested structure for those who do not have much experience working with interns. The goal with these internships is, provided they work out well for both parties, that the interns will be offered jobs at the completion of the 10 weeks.
