Beyond the Small Talk: Connecting Across Cultures

Welcome back after the summer!

As we kick off the autumn season, we invite you to step away from the usual work conversations and join us for an afternoon of connection, curiosity and a little bit of fun.

For the first time, we are bringing together the Ideon Science Park HR Network and Communication Network for a shared event exploring what happens when we move beyond small talk and connect across cultures.

What does communicating across cultures really feel like?

We invite you to a guided mingle, facilitated by Kristy Marcard from Marcard Language & Culture, where conversation becomes the learning experience.

Through simple, playful interactions, you will get the chance to:

meet new people and reconnect with colleagues
explore how culture influences the way we communicate
discover how small differences can create both challenges and opportunities
add a few new tools to your communication toolbox

And, of course, there will be a glass of bubbly, snacks and plenty of good conversation.

Because in a world where communication is becoming increasingly digital, fast and impersonal, human connection matters more than ever.

Meet our facilitator
Kristy Marcard is an intercultural trainer, language professional and, first and foremost, a person who is passionate about helping people connect.

Having left her home country and culture more than 20 years ago, she has experienced first-hand what it means to navigate cultural differences. Her background in literature and translation brings both depth and playfulness to her work.

As a DVWO-certified intercultural trainer, Kristy helps people understand different cultural perspectives, appreciate differences and turn them into an asset in communication and collaboration
