Majken in the Axis room

Ideon Coder Kids takes place every year at Ideon Science Park in collaboration with partners and supporters. With Coder Kids we wish to ignite the passion for coding and digital creativity in children and teenagers and give them inspiration to continue developing. This year, Coder Kids gathered 120 coder hungry kids.

Majken is 12 and participates for the third time and seems to know the drill. Her father, Jan Bjernler, is a programmer and staff engineer at SONY and a coach at Coder Kids. He loves supporting the kids as they discover how they can use coding to express their creativity.

I have been a coach since the start of Ideon Coder Kids, he says.

Majken is pleased with the day:

Today I have created different sorts of games; space monsters that attack for example.”

Majken is particularly happy having tailor-made one of the games herself. She renamed it and made the front figure a ghost instead of a ball.

I like fun games and making different versions – for example creating or adding different sorts of characters.”

Amanda Nilsson is an analytics engineer at Axis and one of the coaches in the Axis coder room for kids between 8 and 12.

They have really worked well today! They are very committed and focused. I was happy and surprised to see that one of them was making a game about ornithology”, Amanda says and smiles.

We are thankful to our partners, supporters, coaches, and contributors for supporting this great event.
