STARTUP NEWS We continue our series of startup companies who are working at Ideon Innovation. The purpose of this series is to introduce the startups to the other companies at Ideon to see if there is a possibility of working together and doing business with each other. Kind of an electronic networking.
Company name: Xenergic

Xenergic team
Hey, Babak Mohammadi, can you tell us more about the team, who you are and what your background is?
The team at Xenergic, known also as XENTEAM, is an international team of ambitious engineers who share their passion for energy-efficient circuit design for a greener connected society. Our members are Berta, Caty, Julian, Kevin, Lucas, Roshan and Xiao which proudly all together bring together eight nationalities from different parts of World. All of them have a specialization in integrated circuit design.
The SRAM memory developed by Xenergic AB is the result of many years of research and expertise from Lund University in combination with many years of industrial experience. The company is co-founded by me, Joachim Rodrigues, Anders Berglund and Lund University. I hold a PhD in Electrical Engineering from Lund University and have more than ten years of industrial experience. Joachim is Assc. Professor in circuit design at Lund University and has several years of industrial experience. Anders Berglund has a background as a serial tech. entrepreneur.
Can you explain more about your product?
Xenergic AB develops a new IP for on-chip memories, known as SRAM which is a widely used component in integrated digital circuits such as mobile phones’ processors. The developed IP drastically reduces the power consumption and brings down the area footprint and thus production cost, making it very attractive to low power applications such as battery powered devices. Higher energy efficiency is also necessary for the deployment of a sustainable internet of things (IoT), where low-power and low-cost devices are of vital importance. Memories are area and power bottlenecks in most of the digital designs, and nowadays, roughly 70% of a typical digital chip is accounted for memories.
Can you tell me what inspired you to create it? What problem you wanted to fix if any?
We like to compete and to push ourselves to the best of our ability, so our product was developed from a passion to create the best memory. We wanted to achieve something extraordinary, a memory design that would drastically decrease the power and area cost while at the same time delivers a high performance. After many years of hard work we achieved what we were looking for and designed a memory that not only reduced the size but at the same time reduced the power consumption by more than 90%.
Our memory will be crucial for battery powered mobile devices and the deployment of internet of things, where we will enable more functionality and longer battery life time in mobile phones and Internet of Things devices. Today the memory can make up as much as 70% of the surface area and energy cost of the digital designs. We will change this!
What benefits will I as a user get from using your product?
Our IP will extend the battery longevity of mobile devices and enable the development of new low-power devices. Smaller area footprint of IP comes with the advantage of more functions and lower product cost for the end user.
In what way could help other Ideon companies?
We can help high-tech companies to improve the performance of their application, and we are already collaborating with some global players.
