The mobile technology company Beammwave in Lund has seen its stock bounce back this fall.
“We have finally put together a product that we can show to customers,” says CEO Stefan Svedberg.
The founders behind Beammwave are people from the former Ericsson in Lund, with deep expertise in mobile technology. This includes CEO Stefan Svedberg, technician Markus Tömänen, and patent expert Bengt Lindoff.
The company is developing so-called ‘digital beamforming’. As mobile frequencies increase in 5G and 6G networks, their range becomes shorter and more sensitive to objects that block signals. Beamforming ensures that the signal between the transmitter and receiver is precisely directed at each other.
Major mobile manufacturers use analog beamforming, which means using a gyroscope to aim the antenna toward the cell tower.
“This is complex technology. So far, we’ve had everything planned out on paper and developed all components separately. This summer, we saw that we had a complete system stable enough to show to customers, where we actually sent a signal from point A to point B through the air. It was a huge leap for us,” says Stefan Svedberg.
He now expects to demonstrate the system to the world’s major mobile manufacturers.
“We’re starting to get projects going with customers who want to explore the technology based on their needs. The pace of this largely depends on the customers’ agendas,” continues Stefan Svedberg.
Beammwave’s stock was listed on First North in the spring of 2022 at around 15 kronor, and since then, it has been on a downward trend until this summer, when the company completed a new share issue. In early August, the stock was trading at just over 2 kronor.
However, the stock has surged by 150% in the last three months.
“I guess investors have seen the progress we’ve made. Also, we brought in several new shareholders during the share issue, which has created better liquidity in the stock,” says Stefan Svedberg.
