Last year, the company achieved record revenues with profitability. Next week, they will pitch at Rapidus’ and Danske Bank’s pitch event arranged at Ideon Science Park (Ideon Gateway).
“We hope to meet smart investors,” says co-founder David Axelsson.
For runners looking to log their weekly kilometers efficiently, the solution might be running to work—provided that their gear doesn’t interfere with the run. Iamrunbox manufactures backpacks designed to keep laptops and clothes secure during a bumpy commute.
“We are the market leader in our niche—running to work with your laptop without it bouncing around. We have some competitors here and there, but none of the major players are doing what we do,” says David Axelsson, co-founder and marketing director.
A Growing Trend for Running in Cities
The recent years’ interest in running has continued to grow, especially in large cities where run commuting meets both fitness needs and practical transportation, especially when cycling or driving isn’t an option.
“If you had asked someone in 2015 how many people run to work, there wouldn’t have been many. But it has grown explosively as more people take up running. Running has boomed in recent years,” says Axelsson.
The idea for the backpack came from Axelsson’s colleague, founder Kirill Noskov, while living in Copenhagen. Every morning, his work clothes would get wrinkled during his run to work at Maersk. It turns out he wasn’t the only one facing this problem.
“You wouldn’t run a race with our bags; they’re built for the rest of your life. The ergonomics are fantastic because they’re designed specifically for running with a laptop,” Axelsson explains.
“It doesn’t look like a running bag, and that’s very important.”
Strong Backing from Investors
Founded in 2015, the company has attracted investors who have contributed both capital and expertise. Notable supporters include the investor group I Love Lund, distributor Mno, and Jesper Blicher Dahl, former CEO of Newline. Recently, Jonas Persson, former commercial director at Revolution Race, and Joel Almqvist, co-founder of Stronger, have also chosen to back the company.
“Both Joel and Jonas have experience in scaling e-commerce and building strong brands in the Nordics,” says Axelsson.
Iamrunbox’s revenue in recent years has remained steady at around 4 to 5 million SEK. However, a strategic focus on profitability yielded results last year, with a significant increase in revenue as a bonus. Axelsson cannot disclose exact figures but confirms that the company finally turned a profit last year.
“It’s a big deal, a very big deal. We’ve been on a journey to achieve the right brand profile with the right partners. We’re very happy with where we are now,” says Axelsson.
A Promising 2025
2025 is shaping up to be another strong year for the running company from Lund.
“We aim to double our revenue this year and reach 20 million SEK, and we have the tools to achieve it,” Axelsson says.
On Tuesday, January 21, Rapidus and Danske Bank will host a pitch event for Skåne-based scaleups, and Iamrunbox is one of the selected companies pitching to invited Danish and Swedish investors. The Lund-based company is currently in an investment round seeking 6 million SEK. Half of the required capital has already been secured from both new and previous investors.
“We hope to meet good, smart investors who want to join us in expanding over the next two to three years,” says co-founder Axelsson.
