The leading test provider, TÜV Rheinland, has expanded its global commitment to wireless communication technology by acquiring a laboratory at Ideon. The acquisition of the laboratory at Ideon also forms the basis for TÜV Rheinland’s newly established national subsidiary in Sweden. By acquiring the laboratory, TÜV Rheinland has expanded its European wireless network into four locations. In addition to the lab in Sweden, TÜV Rheinland also runs the corresponding facilities in Cologne, Nuremberg and Leek (Netherlands).

TÜV Rheinland’s Center of Excellence
As a member of the rapidly growing LoRa Alliance, TÜV Rheinland also supports the standardization process as well as testing and certification of products before being launched on the market. To this end, the experts work with specialized laboratories for wireless communication technology and IoT products in Europe and the United States, Japan, South Korea and Taiwan. This way, the test provider is always close to manufacturers and users worldwide and can offer their skills in wireless communication standards. The same applies to Silicon Valley in the United States where the test provider opened the first wireless communications technology laboratory in 1986. Together with the newly opened laboratory in Fremont, California, the facility “TÜV Rheinland’s Center of Excellence Wireless / IoT” forms the hub that performs wireless communication tests throughout North America. Like cyber security and autonomous driving, the expansion of wireless communication technology testing facilities is an example of the future digitization topics that test provider TÜV Rheinland will focus more on in the future.
