A Company Built on Radio and Test
Mikrodust AB, was founded in 2011 by Mats Iderup, with a passion for electronics and a knack for solving difficult testing challenges. Early on, the company built strong competence in radio-wave products — everything connected to wireless signals. That expertise soon translated into developing specialized testing solutions.
“For us, testing was always at the core,” says CEO Jonas Wackerfeldt . “It is something we really knew inside and out, and we have spent years refining it.”
Over the past eight years, Mikrodust has iterated through several generations of test systems for electronics production. Today, the company is on its second generation of AtoMik®, a modular, mature platform designed to make testing faster, more efficient, and more user-friendly.
A Leader Who Loves Small Tech Companies
In August 2024, Jonas Wackerfeldt stepped in as Mikrodust’s new CEO. With a career spanning technology-driven companies since the 1990s, he has a clear preference for smaller, agile businesses.
“I have worked in many technology-oriented small companies, and that is where I thrive,” he explains. “I love working with engineers and being close to the product.”
Mikrodust currently has around 20 employees and a handful of consultants — a size that allows for both ambition and flexibility.
From Custom Solutions to Standard Products
For most of its history, Mikrodust delivered tailor-made testing systems. Each customer project could take months, sometimes even years, to design and deliver. Now, the company is taking a bold step toward standardizing its solutions.
“With AtoMik® we are transforming from building unique systems to offering a platform — a complete, ready-to-use product line,” says Wackerfeldt. “That is a big leap for a company of our size.”
The change is more than cosmetic. By turning what used to be one-off solutions into a standard product, Mikrodust has been able to cut testing times dramatically and deliver systems that are easier for customers to integrate into production. Among the company’s new customers is Sector Alarm, which now uses the platform to test connected smart home devices at high volumes.
The platform is not only sold as a whole, but its components are now available individually. This enables integrator partners such as Prevas Test & Measurement and Nouhou Solutions to include Mikrodust’s technology in their own systems. The ambition is to scale up to 1,000 systems within 3-5 years.
Backing for Growth
A turning point came in 2022, when new owners joined — Tibia Konsult and Martin Gren Investments (the founder of Axis). With new capital and new strategy, Mikrodust has reorganized and built the foundations for scale.
“The new ownership gave us the push we needed,” says Wackerfeldt. “We have streamlined the organization, strengthened our sales, and started thinking globally.”
The company is also working on ISO 9001 and 14001 certifications, CE approval of the platform, and has several patents in the pipeline. And further down the line, Mikrodust plans to launch additional instruments that will expand the AtoMik® system with even more capabilities for advanced testing.
Eyes on Europe
Mikrodust has its sights firmly set on Europe, with expansion beginning at home but quickly looking outward. They are regulars at Productronica in Germany, the world’s largest production fair, and are eyeing France as a particularly promising industrial market.
“To grow, we need to be where our partners and customers are,” says Wackerfeldt. “Trade fairs like Productronica are where you meet the big players and build real relationships.”
Innovation Through Simplicity
At the heart of Mikrodust’s success is a philosophy of simplification. The AtoMik® platform consolidates what used to be a tangle of cables, boxes, and instruments into compact, modular cards — easy to integrate, faster to use, and more reliable in production.
“We have taken instrument by instrument and stripped it down to its essence,” Wackerfeldt explains. “Our goal is to make testing as compact, user-friendly, and efficient as possible. That is our secret sauce.”
The benefits are clear: higher efficiency, less waste, and more consistent quality in electronic production.
Looking Ahead
Mikrodust’s ambitions reach beyond immediate growth. The company collaborates closely with Lund University and participates in broader initiatives like the EU Chip Act, tapping into the region’s robotics and semiconductor clusters. New ideas from this work are already leading to potential patents.
“It has been a transformation,” says Wackerfeldt. “Some say it has taken time, but in reality we’ve reshaped the company, found a new strategy, and started executing. Now, it’s all about scaling up — and making AtoMik® the standard for testing worldwide.”
What is AtoMik®?
Mikrodust’s AtoMik® is a modular test platform for electronics production. It replaces complex, cable-heavy setups with compact, standardized instrument cards and intuitive software.
