Today: €35.5 Million Allocated to Strengthen Talent Supply in Deep Tech and Life Science Industries

A collaborative project aimed at bolstering talent acquisition within the deep tech and life science sectors of the Öresundsregion has been granted €35.5 million in funding. This initiative, known as Cross-border Talent Bridge, will be made possible through co-financing from the EU’s Interreg Öresund Kattegatt Skagerrak program.

Cross-border Talent Bridge brings together key players in the region, including Lund Municipality, Ideon Science Park, Medicon Village, Mobile Heights, Copenhagen Capacity, the City of Copenhagen, and Medicon Valley Alliance.

Lund Municipality, with its extensive experience in welcoming international talent via the International Citizen Hub Lund, will lead the project.

“Cross-border Talent Bridge unites regional key players who have developed successful talent attraction models and tools in various ways. We are thrilled to collaborate and leverage our collective expertise in this project,” says Moa Ageberg, Unit Manager for External Relations at Lund Municipality.

“This is a significant project that will enhance talent recruitment in two crucial future industries. The fact that we will do this across the Öresund makes this project unique, as we take joint responsibility for development across the entire region,” adds Anders Almgren (S), Municipal Council Chairman in Lund Municipality.

Empowering Talent Attraction in Deep Tech and Life Science

The project aims to strengthen the capabilities of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in recruiting international talent, promoting career opportunities, identifying key factors for attracting and retaining talent, and engaging in strategic policy influence to eliminate obstacles to cross-border talent mobility.

The ultimate outcome will be a long-term, cross-border talent strategy for the deep tech and life science industries, as well as coordinated support for both businesses and talent in the Öresundsregion, also known as Greater Copenhagen.

Copenhagen Capacity, which possesses extensive experience in marketing and destination branding for both businesses and talent, will coordinate efforts on the Danish side.

“We are delighted to now have the opportunity to support the many businesses in two of the region’s core industries, namely tech and life science. Labor shortages pose a significant shared challenge for the entire Greater Copenhagen region, one that we must address through strong collaboration,” remarks Asbjørn Overgaard, CEO of Copenhagen Capacity.
